The beginning of The Misfits - Mastermind - 02-25-2020
EARLY 2018
The decision had already been made for me to return to the XWF, and so I started my training. I was hoping to be ready by September 2018.
But then a sit down between my wife Maria, and I, produced some sort of idea for a back up plan should things go awry.
MY HOME
WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND
1ST JUNE 2018
I was on track to return to the XWF in September, but I had just finished another hard out training session, and I had showered and was sitting down to have some time out with my wife, Maria, and I and our four kids. A set of twin boys, Vin and Jacob. And a set of new born twin baby girls. Bernie, and Lou.
Maria had just put the girls down for another nap, and she sat down beside me, as I watched the boys play with their toys.
"How was training?"
"Exhausting."
"How do you think you are getting on, time wise, on where you think you want to come back at a level where you were the last time you competed in the XWF?"
"I'm getting there. That's why I set September as the return date, because I know I'll be ready in time,"
"And you are going to go back as a good guy again?"
"It's called a face babe," I smirked at her.
My wife always hated using the dreaded smirk with her. She kicked me.
"Don't do that,"
"Sorry. Can't help it. I need to start smirking again so I can use it for my promos."
"Well, that's all well and good hun, but don't use it on me."
"Okay, I'll try not to."
"So you are going back as a goodie goodie then? A face?"
"Yes."
"You've always been a face?"
"Yes babe my entire career. I tried being bad a couple of times, in Australia and Japan, but that didn't suit me."
"But maybe you should think about considering a switch to the dark bad side?"
"Why?"
"Because those eggs in the XWF will just eat you up, spit you out, and it's not you who will suffer it will be us, every time you come home for a semi rest. It happens all the time. They get on your nerves. They beat you up. They defeat you. You come back and try to deflect everything on to us."
I sat there listening to my wife, thinking about what she was saying and trying to remember times when I use to do that. And I could remember a few times, Maria telling me off for deflecting. It wasn't a good thing.
"I think you need to come up with a plan B. Because if you are serious about going back. And I know that you are. You'll be okay at first, and you'll be there for a lot longer this time around, because we both know how much you love being in the XWF. But then they will get to you. Slowly wind you down, and it'll eat you up. You can say it won't happen, but it will happen."
"So what are you thinking. What sort of plan b do you think I might need."
"What are the biggest issues that you face acting alone, being a good guy in the XWF?"
I sat there thinking.
"Well I'm a loner, I like being a loner, but nearly all those relevant people are in stables. In groups. To back one another up. To make it look more damaging. Apparently there have been some pretty big stables over the years in the XWF?"
"Well being a loner isn't going to get you anywhere after an amount of time. Like I said it'll grate on you. You need to prepare for a time that is going to happen."
"So you are suggesting I just join a stable?"
"No........ not just any old XWF stable. Something new. Something of your own doing..... Something like...."
"My own stable."
"Yes."
"We can make it secret, until I'm ready to join them."
"Or you can just build it. When it's ready to go, get them to introduce themselves to the XWF. Wait until you are ready, and then boom, join them."
I sat there trying to imagine what that would look like, and how that would go down. And I started to smile.
"You like that don't you?"
"Of course I do."
"You can be the secret benefactor, I'll help too of course because I want to do something to help. All you have to do, is find a base, not here in New Zealand because that'll be a dead give away to exactly who is behind the group, and we don't want that. No where near Australia either because that might also be a give away. But somewhere..... like..... the states."
I liked what my wife was thinking.
"You've seriously been thinking about this for quite a while now haven't you."
"It's a wonder you haven't."
True. She had me there. I always considered myself a loner, right throughout my career. But here came a chance to switch everything that I believed in up, and change my world for the better.
"Okay, we just need a name for this stable! What could we call them? The Kiwis?"
"No nothing stupid like that. Something big."
"The Next Generation?"
"No. Come on be serious and think."
I was thinking, and I was being serious.
"The Unified Team."
"No."
"The unbelievable team."
"Those names are just getting stupider and stupider."
"Well you say one, then, smart alec."
Maria was quiet for a few seconds, maybe a minute. She was really into this. She loved a challenge. Then she smiled and looked at me.
"How about a group of weirdos or even personalities that usually don't fit together in a group. As you say like yourself, like a group of loners, but once in the group they could be a strong group of personalities. Then you would need a manager with a big personality and very loud to get these guys motivated, or even pissed off. How about?.......... A group of Misfits. How about..... The Misfits......."
And the idea was born from there....... from my very own wife thinking about it, just to help me out, so when the time came, I could join my very own group.

A camera is turned on, and Mastermind walks in front of it.
"So they say there's a difference between a King and a Hero.
"The King leads his people so says a quote. Which is true. Kings and Queens alway lead their people.
"And of course a hero is a hero because he saves everyone from certain fate.
"Well I'm no hero, and I'm no King.
"Finn can be the hero or the King if he wants to. Whilst I'll just focus on myself and take Finn down.
"Finn, after I take down Keiran Overton this coming Saturday, I'm coming to Liverpool next Wednesday to take you down and you guys can just become another figure in my guaranteed win box.
"Just you wait and see Finn. I am more focused than you. I'll be heading to the Hart Championship the second warfare after March Madness to win the damn thing. That'll be after I win the March Madness King of the ring.
"You are my stepping stone, Finn. Believe it. I do."
Off to the side of the camera, waiting patiently is Antony the Jerk. Mastermind smirks at the camera, and then walks off towards Antony. They completely walk away from the camera, laughing.
