Corey Smith - Corey Smith - 10-19-2020 In-Ring Name: Corey Smith Wrestler's Real Name (if applicable): Corey Smith New to XWF or a returning roster member?: Not New Wrestler Date of Birth: Unknown (age 18) Height: 5'9'' Weight: 162 lbs Origin: Unknown Personality: Corey is a quick witted young man with a generally warm heart and charismatic disposition. He's generally fun loving and fiercely loyal to friends and allies. Corey is also well aware that he's good looking, and can be casually flirtatious but usually stops short of being obnoxious. But he has a fiery side too, especially when it comes to facing those he sees as “evil” or amoral. These feelings are born out of guilt for the things that he was made to do when The Engineer was in control of him, and his fears that maybe he never left.... History: Some might say that Corey Smith is new to the XWF, but that's only a half truth. The truth is much stranger, and somewhat more sinister. At the age of 17, Corey overdosed on illicit drugs, putting him in a comatose state with what was, at the time, irreversible neurological damage. Corey's body was cryogenically frozen. Somehow, in the near future, it came into the possession of a rebel group opposing a nihilistic despotic regime bent on destroying the world. The rebel group's trained assassins conducted themselves in the shadows, using repaired dead bodies as shells to conduct their covert assassinations and spy on the enemy. One of those assassins, Lux, jumped into Corey's repaired body during a desperate retreat from an enemy attack. Lux traveled back in time to the year 2019, and was shocked to find that Corey was never dead and his consciousness was still very much present in his body. Naturally Corey initially rejected her, but over time a deep and abiding friendship formed, two souls in one body. Lux joined the XWF, using it to travel the world and conduct assassinations of figures who would one day be integral in destroying the world. This also brought Lux and Corey in direct conflict with Madison Dyson, who would one day be one of those figures. At the end of 2019, Lux beat Unknown Soldier for the Universal Championship, but her enemies (including Madison Dyson and Shane ![]() The Engineer's title reign was a nihilistic nightmare, as he tried to parlay his time in the spotlight to preach a mantra of cynical fatalism. This included ghastly displays of cruelty, even during XWF programming. He gained a cult like following of fanatics and worshippers of the Pagan God of Death Aiwass. The Engineer also relished psychologically terrorizing Corey, holding him at bay in his own body. Suddenly in March of 2020, the Engineer's plans were thwarted by 24/7 Briefcase holder Shawn "Fuzz" Warstein, who despite the fact that the Engineer correctly surmised Fuzz would try to cash in, was defeated by the man with the help of XWF management. Fuzz injected The Engineer with a chemical compound, taking the Universal Championship from him. Backstage, this compound caused Corey Smith's body to have a stroke. When Corey awoke, he could no longer sense The Engineer's presence within him. Corey worked hard for many months to recover from his stroke, drawing on his own inner strength and the encouragement of his good friend Thaddeus Duke for inspiration. Now, a fully healed and restored Corey Smith has arrived in the XWF, with a silent mind that is truly his own for the first time in a long while. But who Corey plans to be now that he's on his own remains to be seen. Alignment (heel/face/tweener): Face Physical Build Description: Lean, small build. Numerous scars on his body and scar over eyebrow ![]() Ring Attire: See the uncanny deepfake below for a pic of Corey's ring gear: ![]() Out Of Ring/Casual Attire: Hoodies, stylish jeans, pop-culture flavored t-shirts or band shirts are common Ethnicity: Unknown, possibly mixed race Pic Base: Benjamin Wadsworth ![]() Wrestling Style: Striking is first and foremost in Corey's arsenal, just as it was in Lux and The Engineer's. Corey's smaller build does not behoove him to get in close with most opponents, so he strikes hard and fast and escapes. However, now that Corey is on his own he has also started to incorporate some flashier high risk moves. He has also retained a few submission holds to surprise his opponents with, including the deadly Korean Zombie Twister that The Engineer was so fond of using. Corey only uses this move out of desperation because it reminds him of who/what he once was, but it is deadly and highly effective, even against larger foes. Strengths: Ludicrous striking ability, dextrous and extremely fast. Weaknesses: Power and brute strength is nil, needs to keep distance from strong opponents. Entrance Theme Music: “Identity” by Grandson Entrance Description: The arena is pitch black and the melancholy opening tunes to “Identity” begin. But as the song starts to pick up in intensity, down in the entry way, you see a Jericho-esque light up jacket glow brilliantly. Then, twin explosions emit from either side of the ramp and the lights turn on in a swirling red and blue pattern that throb in sync with the beats of the song. Corey comes down the ramp, the jacket now flashing intermittent heart and lightning bolt patterns. On the 'Tron you see images of Corey/Lux pulling off fantastic moves, intercut with blur effects on Corey's face that obscure his features in an eerie way. Corey gets on the ring apron, throwing his arms over the top rope as the jacket keeps flashing. He looks pumped as hell, and starts pointing out at the fans before rushing to the top rope, surveying the crowd from on high, before dropping down to the canvas and handing off his jacket. He paces the ring now, waiting for the match to begin as the music and lighting effects wind down. NOTE: For big time PPV matches he may switch his theme music to Lux's old theme music “We Appreciate Power” by Grimes. 15-20 Commonly Used Moves: Wristlock into Knee to Face (see Seth Rollins) Running Knee to Face Leaping Knee to Face Helluva Kick to opponent in corner (see Sami Zayn) Dropsault Sliding Dropkick Chop Block Surprise Throat Punch Variations of Punch Combos Forearm Strikes (and multiple repeating forearm strikes) Roundhouse Kicks Back Kicks Various chops Spinning Backfist (or multiple spinning backfists) Axe Kick Running STO Ankle Lock Running Twisting Neck Breaker (can also hit from the Top Rope) Running Step Up Moonsault (when thrown into the corner, used as a counter) Hurricana's Standing Moonsault Finishers: Face Pain De-Lux Description: Aleister Black's Black Mass Extra Face Pain De-Lux Description:Tajiri's Buzzsaw Kick, always as a coup de grace to a kneeling opponent Corey Special Number 4 (nevermind the first 3, they sucked) Description: Top rope jawbreaker **ULTRA DESPERATION FINISHER** Corey has retained the Engineer's finisher, a Korean Zombie Twister, and for some reason has even kept the same name. Corey uses this very sparingly, only out of desperation against a very dangerous opponent that he needs to shut down immediately. End of Ages Description: Korean Zombie Twister Favorite Hardcore Attacks/Spots: Tries to avoid using weapons, but has been practicing with Escrima sticks for some reason |
