April 16th, 2025
Missoula, Montana

In a bastion of deeply conservative culture, the call for revolution hangs thick in the air.

12,000 Montanans, and a professional wrestler from Kentucky named Dolly Waters, packed a rarely used coliseum to listen to Bernie Sanders and AOC rail against the growing threats of oligarchy in the United States.

So… brothers and sisters, Bernie begins his closing remarks, his voice rising with passion, This is not a moment of despair and disillusionment.

No… THEY want you to be disillusioned. THEY want you to go on about your lives as they strip away your fundamental rights, as THEY buy our great country. They want you to believe that there’s nothing we can do to stop them…

A deafening roar rumbled from the crowd.

Well... I've got news for Mr. Musk and Mr. Trump. They may have all the money. They may have all the political power that the mighty dollar can buy. But what they don’t have is what’s here in this arena tonight. And that, my friends, is the spirit of America. The spirit of freedom!

Our democracy, imperfect, yes… started with pure intentions.

Over time, it was corrupted by our own disillusionment, but we persevered.

And now, it faces its greatest challenge yet: the threat of being bought by the oligarchs, who seek to transform it into something unrecognizable.

BUT WE WON’T LET THEM!

The crowd erupted in agreement, a wave of chanting voices swelling in unison.

Dolly stood among them, her pulse racing, the familiar fire of revolution burning in her chest. She had fought for this… for something bigger than herself, for a world that wasn’t ruled by corporate greed and oligarchy.

She had built MayDay as a symbol of that fight so long ago. But in her disillusionment, MayDay had slipped away into a distorted version she no longer recognized by its second installment.

Then, her phone buzzed again.

She ignored it, trying to push the thoughts away, focusing on the rally. But it rang again. And again. More frantic this time.

Dolly’s eyes flicked to the screen…

Corey Smith.

The man who had once been her closest ally in all things rebellion. Something was wrong.

Her stomach sank as she slid the phone to her ear, trying to block out the thundering crowd, the rallying cry of Bernie and AOC.

Corey? Her voice was shaky, already bracing for the worst.

Dolly?! Would you like to tell me what in the FUCK is going on? Corey’s voice snapped through the phone, straining with urgency.

She winced, struggling to focus. Corey, I can barely hear - - -

Dolly, there are XWF producers and auditors crawling all over the commune! They're talking about MayDay 3?! WHAT IN THE FUCK HAVE YOU DONE?!

Her heart stopped. The words echoed in her mind. MayDay 3. Without her?

She stumbles back, her hands gripping her phone like it was keeping her grounded.

MayDay.

The event she had worked so hard to build from the ground up, a symbol of workers’ rights and the fight against corporate status-quo and greed… twisted now and stolen, on the verge of transforming into something unrecognizable.

Her thoughts spun, trying to make sense of it. It was supposed to be her revolution, her vision. What had happened? They’d taken it from her without so much as a word?

Dude… I didn’t do this… Her voice was low, almost a whisper. I didn’t approve any of this…

Corey’s voice cut through her contemplation. Dolly?! What in the FUCK do you mean you didn’t approve it?! This was our thing! MayDay at Ye Old Commune. They’re showing me some piece of paper you signed in 2021 that’s giving them all of the authority to do this crap!

The noise from the crowd chanting around her is deafening. Dolly feels like she’s standing on the edge of a cliff, her entire existence tipping over into chaos.

And then it hit her. She spent all of those years fighting the system, fighting for a better future, only to watch it all get hijacked, commodified, and sold back to the very people she had been fighting against while she’d been lost in lapses of disillusionment.

Her hands trembled before clenching fists, the realization searing through her veins.

She would not let this happen. Not again.

Corey, I’ll fix this. I swear it. Her voice hardened, a newfound determination creeping into her tone.

Whatever. You’ve “fixed” enough.

Corey scoffs and hangs up.

Dolly makes a curt turn, her eyes narrowing, as she begins pushing her way through the crowd, heading for the exit.
